CERT: Community Emerg Response Team

DEL TURA CERT

“NORTH FT. MYERS 2025 CERT TEAM OF THE YEAR”

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a FEMA program that trains community
members in basic disaster response skills. It helps individuals become more prepared to respond to
disasters in their own neighborhoods, especially when professional help is delayed.

Key aspects of CERT:

Training:

  • CERT provides hands-on training in areas like disaster preparedness, fire safety, light search and
    rescue, and disaster medical operations.

Volunteer Program:

  • CERT is a 100% volunteer program where individuals can learn and practice these skills.

Community Focus:

  • CERTs are designed to work within their own communities, helping neighbors and families in
times of need. We work directly with Hometown America in emergency situations.

Training and Support:

  • CERT provides training and support to individuals, including access to a network of other
    volunteers and resources.

Emergency Preparedness:

  • CERT empowers individuals to play a more active role in their community's emergency
    preparedness efforts.

Current Team Leaders are Lisa Bellanca, Darlene Fincham (Treasurer), and Birdie Dugo (Secretary).

If you are interested in being a CERT member, please contact Bertie Dugo for details on certification, 617-974-8502
